Where is my data stored?

Locally on your device, in the app's sandbox. There is no cloud sync or backup. If you delete the app, your sightings go with it.

How does the AI bird identification work?

Lifers uses an on-device machine-learning model (Google's AIY Birds v1, ~965 species) that runs entirely on your phone. No photos are uploaded.

Why is the date wrong on an imported photo?

The app pulls the original photo's capture date from its metadata. Some photos (screenshots, AirDrops) don't carry that metadata; in those cases the app falls back to your Photos library's record of when the file was added, then to today.

Can I export my data?

Not yet — but it's a common request. Send a note if you'd like that prioritized.
